When I asked the people in Thailand what they are interested in about Japan currently,
one of their answers was “idol”.
If I were still a teenager, I could write my blog so easily just with this topic every day,
but now who I think “he is cute” are almost all in their forties.
For myself, “yippee, he is my idol” none the less though...
Maybe people who are not interested in this kind of “idol” say,
“They are mere middle-aged men.”
Yep, I admit it. I feel I have to put up with their severe opinion.

I’m just writing about a true “idol” that I’ve been fascinated recently.
I believe people in Japan must know them much better than I do,
so I think I’ll write for YOU in Thailand!
I suppose you might know them because they appeared on NHK “Kohaku Uta Gassen” last year
that you can see in Thailand, too.
(They were the singers who got a chance to sing taking the shortest term
since their debut than ever in the history.)

Their name is... “WaT” !

“WaT” takes its name from their initials - “W” from Eiji Wentz, “a”nd “T” from Teppei Koike.
They are both twenty-year-old boys and singer-song writers duo.
They came out with their first written song “Boku no Kimochi” on November 2 last year. Entertainment TV reporters reported 20,000 fans flooded into their debut event beyond their expectations,
and the place that was scheduled was changed to another place in a hurry.
They debuted gloriously with a pleasant happening like this.
Their second CD “5 centi.” went on sale in January.
It came top second the charts for their first appearance and this also got off to a good start.

Speaking of Japanese idols, they are almost all “Johnny’s” nowadays.
So the appearance of “WaT” is a kind of raid upon the world of Japanese idols.
Oh, sorry. The word “raid” is too wild for them.
Well, I’d like to describe their appearance as “a fresh breeze” or “a prince on a white horse”... Funny??

(Maybe,) Johnny’s usually gains their fans through giving concerts at Budokan beforehand with their CD debut,
and after that, seizing the opportunity, they make their debut these days.
“WaT” is the same. They appeared on TV separately from time to time beforehand with their CD debut, too.
(It seems there are many singers who can act as a solo and also belong to their own groups.)

For Wentz, variety programs are in his line.
At first, he was too cute to be laughed at even if he pulled gags.
(I think I saw for sure that he was always dealt as a matinee idol.)
He might look showy at first glance, but actually he is a person with persistent efforts.
Making every effort to learn variety programs, now he seems to appear on more than 100 variety programs a year.
Although he is such a cutie, he pulls witty gags a lot without hesitation.
He’s already been around like as a comedian, too?!
Being a kind of admitted, he is second to none even if he were among the professional comedians on every TV program.
I think he looks really cute when he is somewhat puzzled or smiles to hide his embarrassment being teased by them.

On the other hand, for Teppei Koike, he won the Grand Prix at that famous “JUNON SUPER BOY CONTEST”.
After that, he figured as a supporting actor on the series of TV dramas from time to time.
He appeared on the drama “Tentai Kansoku”, too.
I think maybe I saw this drama but I concentrated my attention only on Hideaki Ito at that time.
Teppei also appeared on the drama “Water Boys 2”.
I think I saw this series “1” but not “2”...
So, it was when I saw the drama “Gokusen” that I first got to know him.
I felt he would be so cute if he were a girl seeing him in this drama.
Didn’t he bind his forelock like Yawarachan??
Then in a flash, he appeared on the dramas “Dragonzakura” and “Oniyomenikki”.
He seems to be called “Shitennou” with Tomohisa Yamashita of NEWS,
Kazuya Kamenashi and Jin Akanishi of KAT-TUN by a certain editor of the magazine.
(Do you know who’s who??)

Like this, I was getting interested in them little by little and they appeared on TV more and more.
I was really surprised because they made their debut as a unit one day beyond my expectations that each of them must be solo. Oh, no, they are “a unit” ?!

Actually, this guys entered this world aiming to become singers.
In 2002, they were writing music and giving live performances on the street.
During that term, making great progress as singers,
one cut a figure in variety programs and the other made a brilliant figure as an actor.
Three years after, at last they made their CD debut in 2005.
Of course, when they appear on TV separately, each of them looks really cute,
but they look much cuter when they are singing together!

I think they really love music. They seem to be filled with that feeling from head to foot.
It might be rude to them who keep trying to produce great songs for us,
but their looks are sooo cute more than their songs.
I just can’t stop feeling so. Their songs are really fresh and comfortable to listen,
easy to remember and remain in your memory if you once listen.
So, I never criticize their songs though. What I just wanted to say is, above all,
they just look pretty cute when they are singing playing the guitars with big smiles.
(I know I repeat the word “cute” too many like a broken record!!)

When I went to Karaoke, I tried to sing “Boku no Kimochi”
because I listened to this song many times on TV
and I felt I was able to sing it. But... I couldn’t sing at all!
I noticed at that time I was not listening to their song
but I was just fascinated by their looks in front of TV all the time...

It’s also good they seem to be best friends.
I hope they’ll keep us being happy more with their sweet smiles in the future.
I’ll do keep cheering secretly from far♪

現在タイの方々が日本の何に興味を持っているか聞くと、
その一つに「アイドル」という答えが返ってきました。
２０年前の私なら、その項目一つでブログを毎日のように書けた気がしますが笑。
現在、私が「ステキ」と思う人はほとんどが４０代爆。
私の中ではそれでも全然「アイドル、キャー」なんですが笑、
一般の方から見たら「単なるオッサン」と言われても、なんちゅうか、、、
「しょうがない？！」と冷静に感じておりますの笑。

そんな私が、最近「かわいいなぁ」と思ってみているちゃんとした「アイドル」について
えー、でも日本の方は私より全然よくご存知だと思うんでー、
あくまで「タイにいらっしゃる皆さんへ」と言うことで笑、書いてみたいと思います。
と言っても、昨年末の紅白に、（デビューから史上最短で）出場したので、
ＮＨＫが流れているタイでもご存知の方は多いかも？？

その名は「ＷａＴ」！（ワット）

ウエンツ瑛士の“W”　“a”nd、小池徹平の“T"の頭文字を取って「WaT」
２０歳同士のシンガーソングライターデュオです。
昨年の11月2日に二人で書き下ろした「僕のキモチ」でメジャーデビュー。
デビューイベントには予想以上の２万人のファンが殺到し、
急遽、予定していた場所を変更した、と各局の芸能ニュースが取り上げ
華々しいデビューを飾りました♪
１月にはセカンドシングル「５センチ。」が発売。
初登場２位とこちらも好調！

日本の男子アイドルといえば、ほとんどがジャニースという今、
ＷａＴは殴り込みを、、、
いや、彼らに「殴り込み」とかいう乱暴な言葉は使っちゃいけない気がする、、、笑
えーーっと、「新しいさわやかな風」を引き連れて「白馬に乗って」・・・（えー？）

ジャニーズは最近、ＣＤデビュー前に、武道館コンサートを開いたりして
着々とファンを増やし、機を狙ってドーンとデビュー！という形を取ってますが（たぶん）
“Ｗａｔ”もＣＤメジャーデビューする前に、各々バラバラにテレビに出てましたよね。
（最近はソロ活動もできて、グループにも属してて、という人が多いなぁ）

ウエンツ君の方は、バラエティ路線。
最初は二枚目扱いで、面白いことを言ってもうまく絡めなかったようですが、
（確かに「カッコいいやつは何を言っても許されるよなぁ〜」みたいな事を
　言われてるトコロを見たような気がする）
チャラチャラしてるようで、実はかなりの努力家のようで、地道なバラエティの勉強を積み重ね、
今では年間１００本以上のバラエティ番組に出演しているそうです。
カワイイのに捨て身のギャグを平気に飛ばし、三枚目路線をばく進中？！
現在ではどの番組内でも一目置かれた感じで、芸人に混じっても全くヒケを取りません。
大先輩にイジラレて、困ったり照れ笑いしてるのが非常にカワイイです笑。

小池徹平君はあのジュノンスーパーボーイコンテストでグランプリ。
その後連続ドラマの脇役などでチョコチョコテレビに出てました。
ドラマ「天体観測」にも出てたそうで、このドラマ時々見てたんですが、
ワタシはたぶん、この時「伊藤英明」ばかりを見てたんだろうと思います笑。
またドラマの「ウォーターボーイズ２」にも出てたそうですが、
「１」は見てたんですが、「２」は見てませんでした笑。
で、最初に徹平君を認識したのは、「ごくせん」。
「女の子にしてもいいくらいカワイイ男の子だなぁ」と思いながら見てました。
確か柔ちゃんみたいに、髪の毛くくってましたよね？（違う？）
そしたらあっという間に「ドラゴン桜」「鬼嫁日記」の連続ドラマに登場。
ジャニーズのＮＥＷＳの山下智久、ＫＡＴ−ＴＵＮの亀梨和也、赤西仁とともに
「四天王」と呼ぶ雑誌編集者もいるらしい！
（皆さん、誰がどの子かお分かり？笑）

こうして、ちょっと気になる二人が、どんどんテレビに出だして、
「あ、この子又出てる！又出てる！」と思っていたら、ある日！
なんと別々だと思っていた二人がユニット組んでデビュー！というからびっくり！
え？！仲間だったの？って笑。

ほんとは、この二人歌手になりたくてこの世界に入ったようですね。
２００２年には二人で曲を書いたり、ストリートライブをしていたそうです。
そこでじっくり歌手の方の力をつけながら、一方はバラエティで
もう一方は俳優でも頭角を現し、３年後の２００５年、念願のＣＤデビュー！
もうね、それぞれ個人の活動してる二人も、かわいいんですが、
歌ってる二人は、それ以上にメチャクチャカワイイです。
音楽がほんとに好きなんでしょうね。
そのキモチが体全体から溢れ出てます♪
頑張って作ってるみたいなんで、こんなこと言ったら失礼なんですけど、
歌はどうでもいいくらいカワイイというか笑！
歌もとてもサワヤカで、聞くとすぐ覚えられる、頭に残る、気持ちのいいメロディで、
決してどこが悪いと言ってるワケじゃないんですが。
もうね、それ以上にとにかく二人が楽しそうにニコニコギター弾き鳴らしながら
歌う姿はものすごくカワイイです笑。
（壊れたおもちゃのように「カワイイ」連発してます！！）
以前、カラオケ行った時、何度もテレビで流れてるのを聞いていたので、
歌えるかな？と思って「僕のキモチ」入れてみたら、全く歌えず笑、
「私は画面に出てくる二人の姿をジィーーっと見てたダケだったんだ」と思ったっていう笑、ね。

二人が仲良さそうなのもグーッ
これからも、そのサワヤカな笑顔を、いっぱい振りまいていただいて
テレビの前のたくさんの人たちを幸せなキモチにしていただきたい！
